The Aftermath of a Body Armor "Save"

Earlier I posted about a man brave enough to be shot in his company's armor products.

He lived, but I don't think it was, by any means, a picnic.

Body armor gives you a second chance.  It doesn't make you a Terminator.

  1. Didn't notice before but it looks like he has an I.V. catheter in his left arm in the first picture. Why would he get one of those? Pain medication?

  2. To save time spent on inserting it if the vest failed?

    "Oops!"

    "Start the IV!"

  3. I strapped that gear on for nearly 25 years.

Once we had a rookie cop state, "those are some nasty looking bruises." We assured him those bruises were far better than nasty looking exit wounds.

  4. I think you're correct AP. I just rewatched the video and he's got it on already. I guess his confidence level in his product wasn't 100% or he wasn't that confident in the shooter.

  5. The shot was low, my kevlar protection at belly button level is minimal. He should have taken the shot to the center of mass.

  6. Hi Everyone
My name is Robert Kaiser, and I am the guy in the video.
To answer a couple of questions here...
The reason for the IV was not my disbelief or limited trust in our body armour. The video was produced on a military compound... and we only got permission for the production of this video if a number of things would be implemented... the IV was one of these things.
The shot was deliberately fired 2.5cm next to my naval. This is where you store the max body fat and no real important organs can be found behind... meaning no organs e.g. kidney or liver can burst due to the energy and blunt forced trauma.
The shot was fired by a serving special forces soldier with 17 years of special forces and warfare experience.
The very best to you all.
    Robert

  7. Robert,

Thank you for answering those questions!

Having an IV inserted ahead of time seems to be a completely reasonable precaution, and the placement of the shot makes somplete sense to me.

You're a brave man, and I really cannot think of better proof of the quality of a product than to have someone like yourself literally stake his life on it!

Hats off to you and your product, Robert!

Please, by all means, speak your mind. Try to keep the profanity and vulgarity down to the necessary minimum.

Discussion, debate, dissent- these are good things.

I also welcome comments from Anti-Liberty Extremists as well.
