Is there some sort of religious holiday going on today?
Did the "rapture" happen, and I missed it?
Did the Iranians launch some sort of secret weapon that only affects humans flesh?
No one is out. No one. I mean, Christmas day is busier.
The family and I will take advantage of the lack of traffic and people to visit a few historic sites today.
Maybe we'll even take a ball along to throw... ;-)
Professional sports is one reason why the average American is so....nothing. We have major events going 24/7, 365. Like the Romans, we are physically addicted to the "fun and games." What's sad is that everyone wants to get in on this multi-billion dollar spectacle, but when the players act halfway descent, like Teebow, there's an outrage!
ReplyDeleteI LAUGHED when the NBA deadlocked. I was happy! If the Lakers don't play, they don't win, and maybe Oakland won't riot this month. Maybe I won't have to see another stupid Nike commercial. Maybe I won't have to hear about another "pro" leaving the team he's played with for ten years because they can't pay him enough. Maybe I won't have to hear about another thug getting a slap on the wrist for a crime that would land little people like me in jail for decades.
Paul was right. Bodily exercise profits little, even less so when your heart isn't being used.
The Circus is in town. Everyone to the Colosseum!

ReplyDeleteROFL, AP- throwing a ball is why there's no one out today, nice as it is. (Of course, I know you're being a bit tongue in cheek here, so I'll play along.)
Everyone in the uncivilized world is watching the Magic Bowl or something like that. Me, I'm heading for the trail- the kids haven't had their walk yet today and my feet are itching as well. I think the rest of the civilized are probably laoding ammo, at the range, or doing their daily PT.
Shy III
They are all glued in front of their TVs fervently awaiting the Super Bowl, methinks.:)
ReplyDeleteOne could hope.
ReplyDeleteThe great boob on the wall has called its worshipers home.
