"I'm going to hold you to this post when New York City is turned to ashes."
Yes, please do.
First, answer me this... New York Who?
How long after we bomb them do you think it will take for Iran to respond in kind?
How long should any nation wait to retaliate after it is attacked without provocation?
If America's government attacks Iran, Iran will be completely justified in retaliating against American targets.
There, I said it.
If America attacks Iran, the nation that exits that war will in no way resemble the one that entered it.
Please hold me to that statement, as well.
I like to refer to it as my realistic understanding of cause and effect.
Hold me to it.

I'd like to see mr.anonymous answer your question honestly.I'll bet he won't though.

Thanks for covering the Iran situation, AP. You seem to be more on top of it than Drudge or ZeroHedge. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteYep. But Ron Paul is a "kook"...
ReplyDeleteI agree AP.
ReplyDeleteInterestingly, Billy Beck has hisself all worked up in a lather to attack Iran, and made the same type of comments to me on Facebook when I tried to explain why an attack on Iran was a very bad idea for American. Oh well....

We weren't "bombing" anyone on 9/11. What you fail to consider is that they intend to destroy us. You believe that IF we try to stop their aggression or take the fight to them that then we should expect them to take the fight to us. I agree. But what you don't understand is they intend to take the fight to us anyway. The so-called Arab Spring we see is nothing more then a consolidation of the power of the radical muslims. In addition to those countries there are about 20 other countries where muslims are actively fighting and killing Christians for one reason; that they are not muslims. They are coming for us. Probably not directly but incrementally. If they were to acquire a nuke they will use it. They may prefer to bomb Israel or some of the European countries they dislike but N Y City is high on their list. What is our best choice then? Should we wait until the nuke NYC or should we shut them down? They have committed numerous acts of war against us, more then enough provocation to justify destroying their military and nuclear industry. Which choice is the best choice?? FDR allowed the Japanese to bomb Pearl Harbor and without that it is doubtful we would have entered into WW II until the war was brought to our mainland. Was his choice the best one?
ReplyDeleteI don't think most people realize that the Iranian backed terrorist organization Hezbollah has set up shop on our southern border through relationships with the drug cartels. That fact has been reported in many newspapers in California. How many sleeper cells do you think are already in this country? How much effort would it take to send operatives across the border to bring an Iraqi/ Afghanistani insurgency into mainland America?
ReplyDeleteThis isn't an f'ing game and very few Americans have the sack to be on the front line of a way in our streets.
Ursus, it's that fear of the "boogeyman" that has enslaved us all. I live in south Texas, and I am not afraid of the "terrorist boogeyman". Have guns, plenty of ammo, will shoot the camel shaggers on sight. Maybe it's just a Texas thing...
ReplyDelete"FDR allowed the Japanese to bomb Pearl Harbor and without that it is doubtful we would have entered into WW II until the war was brought to our mainland."
ReplyDeleteTo which I reply:
"You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass."

Mr. Cavanaugh-
ReplyDeleteYou clearly fail to understand that Hezbollah is the pro team which would make Al Qaeda a pop warner team. I'm not afraid of a boogeyman and I'm no one's slave but I also know what's going on with real threats in the real world.
As someone with family members working in Border Patrol, I can tell you that radical islamists are being smuggled into this country ... not because they want a better life for their families but because they want to kill you and yours. Now if you are really as prepared as you say then why aren't you off the porch taking care of business against the 'camel shaggers' that are crossing the border of your state?
Ursus, I would be on the border sniping if it weren't for that little fact that I'd be ARRESTED and tried in kangaroo court for "murder".
ReplyDeleteWhat you fail to understand is how the boogeyman "threat" is being used to strip you of your Liberty. Us Texans can take care of our business without the Testicle Squeezer ASSociation feeling up Grandma at the scareport, "fighting" Orwellian "wars" against ghosts, or generally snivelling in fear at nanny.gov's feet, begging for "protection". Some asshole invades our space uninvited, we shoot the motherfucker. Pardon my French. That's how it is in Texas...
AP, You are right on. I'm a former Army officer (mustang - former E5). I've always prided myself on being able to assess the factors at play rationally and accurately. I've worked with lots of people and agencies over my career and I can assure you, and more importantly everyone else, that you have a very rational and realistic view of the battlefield. Everything you have written in regards to Iran and American foreign policy has been completely correct. I will reach out on a limb and say that there are probably many CIA analysts that agree with you completely as well. This is all terribly tragic.
ReplyDeleteIf you haven't read it, I highly recommend reading Nassim Taleb's "The Black Swan of Cairo" here: http://fooledbyrandomness.com/ForeignAffairs.pdf
Also, He's coming out with a book in a few months called antifragility, but he did a podcast interview with Russ Roberts at George Mason here: http://www.econtalk.org/archives/2012/01/taleb_on_antifr.html
Pay special attention to his discussion on the future of the nation state, suppression of volatility, really the whole thing. It's pure gold, really. Listen to it 5 times minimum.

As to starting a fight with Iran, if we invade them, as you pointed out: they've every right to defend themselves. Let's just get our boys and girls home and then we can defend the borders of our own country and prevent the problems Ursus says we are getting.
ReplyDelete"...I can tell you that radical islamists are being smuggled into this country..." and what are we doing about it? Right: harassing our own citizens, molesting our children and seniors, being ordered to stay away from our own border areas and parks, surrendering our farm and ranchland to the enemy.
Am I missing something here, or am I getting the wrong news about our borders?
Just bring our kids home and leave those damn ragheads alone- unless they're on our property. Then terminate with extreme prejudice, no appeals.
Anonymous says, "...We weren't "bombing" anyone on 9/11. What you fail to consider is that they intend to destroy us..."
ReplyDeleteRight. Fine and dandy. How long ago was 9-11? That war is over- the troops are being brought home.
Or perhaps you think we should reinvade Japan because of Pearl Harbor. Or Maybe we should just nuke England because of G-3's not letting us be free in the first place.
Point being: What you're failing to consider is that 9-11 is over; get over it and stop using it as an excuse to invade countries we have no business being in.
Anon, if a nuke goes off in America, it will be because it was allowed to go off. We do have satellite technology that can track the signature of a nuke. The fact is, we know where every nuclear device is on this planet.
ReplyDeleteUrsus Minor, and I say that our borders are wide open for a reason. Obviously, if hundreds of thousands of Mexicans can cross our border every year... so can non-Mexicans. Why do you think our border is so porous in light of the fact that your government tells us we need to crap our pants in the name of the Muslim Boo?
Opportunity my friend. A catalyst. You really think the sheople would be going along with all the anti-freedom and anti-liberty government agencies, Acts, and laws without some kind of catalyst? And I say the bigger the catalyst, the better to sear in the minds of the sheople terror and fear.
Imagine you and your buddies captured by whomever. They drive and wedge into a tree and stick your pee-pee in it... then remove the wedge. Your buddies will talk. Why? Fear and terror.
And what have Americans given up in the name of fear and terror? 911 was your pee-pee put into the tree and the wedge removed. 911 was used as a mass mind terror psyops... and ten years later, you are obviously still crapping your pants.
By the way, you also forgot to remind us of the Chinese South of our border and Central/South America.
Anyhow... I'm not going to go into a big long litany. Our borders are open for a reason.
I think more often than not the world has a lot more grey than black and white. Things develop how they do and conflict arises. Call it geopolitics or political geography or whatever. Folks doing what they have to do on both sides can lead to a fight where there is no clear moral right or wrong.
ReplyDeleteI am not saying that is the case with Iran parse but I don't buy into universal villification of people we are fighting.
I see the Faux News/MSM propaganda machine is doing it's job very well. I've been telling proles for years to get a brain and THEN USE IT! But alas, it's a lost cause. They really like to stay that way.
