Oh, Wow. Pure Gold.

Here's a document recommended by commenter Black Six, in the comments section of this post.

It's pure gold.  Read it, identify the gold contained within, and mine that gold.  Apply it.

Taleb expresses perfectly what I think, and the document introduces to me some new ideas.  His book, The Black Swan, heavily influenced my thinking and worldview, ever since I first read it.

Here's an audio interview also recommended by Black Six.  I have not yet listened to it, but it'll be good, I believe.

We don't know everything; we can't predict everything.  To think we can is both arrogant and ignorant.  All we can do is work towards resilience, as John Robb calls it.  Away from fragility, as Taleb might say.

Unfortunately, our nation is hurtling away from resilience and towards fragility as fast as it possibly can move.

Right into the gaping maw of the next Black Swan.  I bet you never knew swan had teeth (or maws, for that matter), did you?

Resist.

  1. I'm a huge fan of Taleb also. Definitely added to my list of must-print and read materials.

It is getting sickening. It is coming. We can't stop it. Time to add to the stash.

  3. Pickdog-

Sultan Knish is part of the problem.

His logic, as I see it?

    Israel right, Muslims wrong.

    Iran=Muslims.

    Bomb Iran.

Is that what you get from him?

  4. Yes AP, to me there is really no other way to see it. Look, I have no problems flaming wigs but this is looking to be manufactured and I am not liking what I see at all.

As you have stated, we will not come out of this well.

  5. Pickdog,

I don't think you quite understand. The nation state is dead. period. It just hasn't manifested yet. It's all about individuals and communities in real life and the Internet (a la John Robb). Iran, The US, Israel are a salad bowl of individuals, some totalitarian, some advocates for freedom. Change your paradigm.

What happens next is not telling to the final outcome, what is important, is however, your ideals, your tribe, your community (real and virtual). Muslim countries vs Christian / Israeli countries is a stupid and dangerous mental trap. If that's how you see it, you are blind.

Please, by all means, speak your mind. Try to keep the profanity and vulgarity down to the necessary minimum.

Discussion, debate, dissent- these are good things.

I also welcome comments from Anti-Liberty Extremists as well.
